The Lap-A-Thon will take place on Thursday, September 27. There is a rain out date of Thursday, October 4. Grades four and five will walk from 8:30AM-9:30AM. Grades 2 and 3 will walk from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Grades K and 1 will walk from 12:30PM-1:30PM. All siblings and parents are welcome to join in the fun!

What is a Lap-A-Thon?

This is our way of raising money in a fun, safe, and healthy way, where our profit is 100%. All students will participate in this event.

What will the students do during the Lap-A-Thon?
Students will walk or run laps around the Derby High School track, receiving a band/bracelet as they complete each lap. This will allow them to keep track of how many laps they complete.

How does it work?
Your child received a pledge sheet attached to a manilla envelope. The pledge sheet will be used to write down pledges received from family and friends. A "flat" pledge will be requested for the total number of laps the student completes. Pledges are to be collected before returning the packet/envelope to school. The envelope, pledge sheet, and money can be returned to school at any time. All packets must be returned by Friday, September 14.

Where does your donation and money raised go?
The PTO has a variety of ways to continue to support the students at El Paso. Previously, we have purchased soccer goals, basketball goals, in addition to providing supplemental funds for teacher as they need supplies for their classroom, and much more. This year, we are going to purchase playground equipment for Early Childhood students, put money towards a new sound system used for programs, and new folding chairs to be used during family events.

Prizes, Incentives, and Rewards
For any donation amount turned in, students will get to put a paw print sticker on the board, showing how many students are participating in Laps for Learning. They will also receive an El Paso pencil.

After collecting $25, students will receive a tennis shoe keychain. Also, with every $25 earned, students will be able to put their name on a tennis shoe cut out to hang on the walls int he hallway.

After collecting $50, students will take their picture with Mrs. Schartz to be posted on El Paso's Facebook and Twitter pages.

The class with the most students in the $50 club will receive a special reward.

If we reach our school wide goal of $15,000, 5th grade students will pick a reward for the school.

The student that brings in the most donations will get their own special prize, decided by Mrs. Schartz.
